Style Diary: 30 May 2012

I've been writing exams for the past 2 weeks and I only ever feel comfortable when I'm wearing leggings and oversized jerseys.

Today I wore:
Scarf: Stolen from my mom's cupboard
Jersey: Wardrobe
Skirt: Mr P
Leggings: Woolies
(Ye Old Faithful) Boots: Zoom

Also, I'd just like to send a shout out to the Universe today for giving me a fantastic day as opposed to the crapola one that I thought I was going to have.

90's Kids

This is a very rad song by the really rad band, Oh No! Yoko.
I've already decided that it's going to be my vac song.

U-C-T L-O-V-E

I stole this picture of UCT off of my friend's Facebook wall. It's really quite spectacular and I felt an insane amount of pride for my pretty university, when I saw it.

So even as I sit here and think about how I don't particularly feel like studying on this sunday evening and how it's cold and I'm slightly bored, I know that UCT and everything it entails is exactly what I've always wanted.

Happy Studying Everyone.

Kitty Pryde

Two days ago, while avoiding studying I stumbled across Kitty Pryde, this teen-tumblr rapper who's been getting a lot of attention from underground publications and assholes on Youtube. I'm pretty much obsessed after visiting her tumblr and youtube-ing all of her videos.

Check out her blog here

Style Diary: 11 May 2012

I went to the You, Me and Everyone We Know market tonight, at the Labia on Orange. It's the last one until the summer sun graces our faces yet again and Cape Town fills up with tourists. The Market was amazing as usual but I wasn't in a very shoppy mood, so it made the task of flicking through rails of pre-loved clothes a little tedious. I did however stumble across this cosy oversized cardigan for 60 bucks.

For info and stuff about the brand, go here.

This is what I wore to the market. It was pretty chilled (and chilly) and the outfit encompasses all of my favourite comfy clothing items for winter:

Bowler Hat: Cotton On
Cable Knit: Cotton On
Oversized Denim Shirt: Pick 'n Pay Clothing
Leggings: Woolworths
Shoes: Converse All Stars

I'm pretty much obsessed with plum lipstick and high collars this season.

Rainy Thursdays

It's officially winter in Cape Town, which means we're all going to have to get used to the constant rain, which at this moment in my life is incredibly exciting. I woke up this morning and decided that I'd don my pink Wellingtons to campus and perhaps stroll around with a matching umbrella, because if I'm going to do the pink-crazed-five-year-old-look, then I might as well commit to it fully.

I'd like to say that when I get home this afternoon you'll find me on the couch, back in my pjs watching Glee, but apparently I have to be a semi-grown up and spend my afternoon/evening/early hours of tomorrow morning writing essays.

Flux

I've been feeling all nostalgic lately and I made it even worse this evening by listening to a bunch of songs that my friends and I played incessantly when we were younger. Particularly Flux by Bloc Party, which still has one of the coolest music videos around. We played it whenever we snuck off to crappy hole in the wall clubs in Joburg where we watched local bands perform and generally danced our faces off. When I think back to those days now I think about how naive and pretentious we were and how simple everything was. It was great.
