Street Style

I was asked to take part in Glamour South Africa's Street Style section and this was the result in the August Issue, which is on sale now. I'm pretty happy!

Elie Saab Fall 2012 Couture

I don't think I've ever fallen completely in love with an entire collection the way that I have with Elie Saab's fall 2012 Couture line. The collection makes use of simple silhouettes, intricate beading and dainty fabrics and makes me want to don a pretty dress and go to a ball.

Trend Spotting: Pastels

Pastels have been all over the S/S 2012 Runways, from McQueen, Elie Saab and Miu Miu. They've filtered through to department stores, becoming the biggest trend for Spring 2012. This season's colour palette has also ushered in a revival of soft silhouettes, gorgeous heels and dainty handbags in mint greens and lavenders, in a celebration of everything that is feminin.

It's still winter in Cape Town, but the promise of summer sun and ice cream coloured clothes has got me incredibly excited.

Amber Jones Limited Edition

Mr Price has come a long way from copying trends and printing hundreds of t-shirts emblazoned with words like "cutie" and images of Hello Kitty to actually becoming a prevalent voice in the South African Fashion industry. Their succes can largely be attributed to initiatives such as their work with South African Elle in the Rising Design Star Award where they offer young designers an opportunity to launch their own limited edition label at selected Mr Price Stores across the country.

I've fallen in love with Amber Jones, who won the 2010 New Talent Design Search, and her latest range Edie and the It Girls. Jones says that,"this collection is influenced by the Sixties IT girls like Edie Sedgwick and Penelope Tree. Their brand of off beat cool still has a massive impact on fashion decades later. Expect dropped waisted frocks, retro printed cropped trouser suits, A-line jackets and mannish oversized cardigans."

I'm going to count my monies and run off to Mr Price as soon as possible.
